SKY BLUE

Christina says….

Sometimes faded memories pop up in my mind of a past I strive to remember. If I capture them in art, then somehow they become a bit more real, a touch more true. If I capture them, then I can analyze them and make sense of my current state of mind, my parenting skills and my behaviors in my marriage.

Memory struck, poetry emerged.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

The bar is closed but come on back,

The pantry is bare but come on in.

Come on little girl the fireworks are about to start.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

Led to the dark, the wide-eyed little girl knew not where she walked.

Follow the leader; it’s a game, My Heart,

Follow me down to the dark.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

No one was harmed, except

The girl in no one’s arms.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

Awake and huddled, bright room ablaze

No one surrounding

Dry your eyes little girl, it was nothing but a dream.

A dream to forget. Ethereal, intangible, not real.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

Not real

Not real

All

Gone

She said.

The sky was blue

The sun was bright

Today was a holiday

Walk to the pool shaky, unsure

Slip into the cool

Submerge the whole

As the dark heat of the day floats away.

No one was harmed, save the girl in no one’s arms.
